Question How Is Your Garden Coming Along So Far?

Last year, we had wonderful weather and bionic vegetables. This year, the weather has been crappy - hot when it was hot and cold when it was cold and the plants that were put in were eaten by some sort of a bug which killed each plant. I dont think gardening is going to be for me this year...I'm going to see if I can salvage whatever I have left but pray for nice hot weather and less bugs!!!

    Hows your garden coming along?

Mine is coming along, slowly but surely. We have had either totally wet or totally dry weather, no happy medium this year!

However, after just taking down the big tree in our yard, the garden is getting much more sun now, and grew a bit just in the couple of days it has had full sun.

I just took a couple of pics to send to my parents...so I'll post em here!

    Here are the tomatoes:

Here are the peppers, cucumbers and carrots:

I some herbs too on the other side, just didn't get a picture of those...those are the only things that are HUGE!

mine is doing OK, but not as good as last years. The weather is just too dry here. My tomatoes, pepper, peas, and beans are doing wonderfully and I should be starting to get my first tomatoes soon. But, my squash, melons, and cucumbers are not so great. The plants look wonderful, full of flowers (and bees ), but none of them are putting out a single veggie. I mean, come on, I should be drowning in zuchinni right now. LOL

I've been getting my produce from a farm and the weather has not been kind so far this year. Last week, there was a flash flood and one of the fields was completely washed out. For 2 days the broccoli, lettuce and other greens were flooded and that field is a total loss. So all we've been getting is some bok choy, swiss chard, kohlrabi, kale. They say it's never (in 30 years) been this bad weatherwise and hopefully that will not happen again.

I have one tomato plant I planted in an old bucket and I've been watching it and nurturing it like a baby. It's doing great! I counted 8 little tomato buds on my plant which I named Mr Stripey since that's the kind of tomato I'm growing.

Can you tell I don't have many plants to car for around here? LOL

Mine was coming along great, probably the best garden I've ever grown. Then we went to visit family over the 4th and the person tending things left the garden gate open and....let's just say, the goat really enjoyed herself. Not sure what will come back or what may still produce. The tomatoes, potatoes and a few herbs will probably be okay, the rest is trashed.

We're doing okay, but the weather isn't cooperating. It's cold and rainy. We could really do with some sun! This is the first year we've done eggplants, and I'm crossing my fingers! My butternut squashes have failed again this year (*sigh* - I just can't get those plants to grow!). My zucchinis are fantastic and we're starting to get some broccoli. I need to learn how to make jam with all the raspberries we're getting!

    Gee, that's too bad Denise.

Mine is doing great! It's a brand new garden this year and is doing surprisingly well. We've been enjoying peas, lettuce cauliflower & broccoli, till the worms that is :/

Corn was knee high by the 4th of July so we're right on with that. Beans are very bushy with tons of flowers. I ate our first zuchinni, ok, it was just a female flower, but good just the same, and better eated then rotten on the plant

All in all, I'm very happy (so far)

Ours is doing great. We have tomatoes, bell peppers, jalepinos, lettuce, zucchini, cukes, and various other hot peppers. I have picked 3 tomatoes, 1 cuke, 6 jalepinos, and will pick about 3 zucchini in a couple days.
We have had lots of rain this year, but it has helped. I had to tie up the tomato plants today. They are loaded w/tomatoes YIPEE!

I am sitting here cracking up. I'm not laughing at you by any means. Arwen got into our small garden thank goodness not the big one and ate the sunflowers in there and a row of beans that was put in as an afterthought. I'm still cackling over the goats.

Our pumpkins are flowering, but our zucchini and squash are doing nothing! A few cherry tomatoes and peppers. Herbs are going CRAZY! Soybeans and beans are finally blooming, although the beetles ate much of them (now moving onto my willow tree). Horseradish is going bananas as are the garlic and onions. I think I'll take the snow peas out (we have been eating them for weeks) and plant potatoes. will the potatoes be okay if we get frost in mid-end of October?

Momto2Boyz - Thanks for posting the pics

Im glad to hear some of y'all have a thriving garden...wish mine would cooperate. Its either hot hot here or cold cold or extremely dry or complete wet. Where I live, I need even weather LOL and again...less bugs!

I thought about planting lettuce but my dad was against it...wonder how that would go over. Is it easy to plant? This is my second year of gardening here and I'm only the 'assistant' LOL. I have a lot to learn!

Mine seems to be growing slowly... Or it could just be me, wanting them to produce yesterday. LOL... I have one little tomato on one of the tomato plants, and stawberries. I am going to replant the swiss chard, carrots and radishes. This year I am even thinking of doing a fall garden with peas, cabbage, more chard etc....

This is my first garden in more than 12 years. I started my garden rather late with seeds so I am still waiting on everything...I do have some radishes that are ready though.
