Default The fun just ended :(

I've been harvesting and freezing broccoli, but I may stop now. The cabbage loopers have caught up with me. I HATE picking worms off of my food.

Next year I'm starting my own. Gonna grow the shortest yeild time, start them early, get them out early and then if need be cover them with row covers.

Aside from that, how do you protect your cabbage crops? I intend to start a second crop (already planted the seeds inside) and I don't want the worms. Please help.

I've heard you should soak cabbage, broccoli, etc in water with a little vinegar for 1/2 hour. They say the vinegar should kill the worms and they rise to the top of the water. I'm hoping it will work for aphids, too.

Yes, it kills the worms, I used salt, but I'm sure vinegar would work. Problem is most of them don't float to the top. They stay stuck in the broccoli florets. Thus the picking the out. YUCK!
