How does your garden grow?
Even though it's dry, we got up this morning and picked 5 gallons of peas, 15 gallons of green beans, 5 gallons of tomatoes and a few squash...all from plants that are turning yellow from age and lack of rain! Dh is just now turning the peas under and planting a second crop to come in toward the end of the summer. I asked him to plant some winter squash, but haven't been able to talk him into it yet. He thinks we are at our limit there...lol. However, there is new growth on the squash vines and he is setting up a sprinkler system to run once a week if we don't get some rain. I'm hoping everything regenerates for another round.

Be Blessed!

Not much
We're pretty far north so it's still early for us. And we only have a container garden. We've gotten 1 green pepper and about a quart of blackberries so far.

Enjoy your bounty! At this point, we have 6 small green tomatoes, hanging upside down! But, we belong to a CSA, and have enjoyed tons of lettuce, also, red potatoes, carrots, beets, garlic! I love this time of year!
Bought my new oven 1/08 and loving it!

My mother and I both put in fairly good size gardens. So far I don't have any produce (I am also in NY) since most of what I have planted should ripen later in the year.
My mother however has some nice lettuce and a ton of peas. We don't try to store that for long term and just like to use it as much as possible in the summer. I love fresh lettuce and peas in a salad.
We also together bought a 1/2 share in an organic farm and we divide up the goods from that throughout the summer.
We have had a good summer for rain here. I think it has rained at least every two days or so I haven't needed to water the garden at all.

I have two tomatos on two different plants. YAY!! Everything else is coming right along. I do believe that in mid to late August EVERYTHING will be coming in at once. That will be nice.

We started our garden late, so hopefully later in the season we'll be able to get a nice harvest out of it. Right now there are alot of blooms on the tomatoe plants. I've been going down to the Farmer's Market here and buying squash, cucumbers and cabbage. Today they had squash, potatoes, beets, corn, cabbage, onions, green beans and blackberries.....

We are starting to flower on a few things. Last year I could swear we were in better shape garden wise than this year. we had too much rain earlier this year and now we have some sun.
we have potatoes, corn, peas, bell pepper, broccoli, and carrots. Some potatoes, peas, pepper, and broccoli are starting to flower. The corn is about 2 1/2 to 3 ft tall.
I do hope we have a harvest I LOVE eating from our garden.

I am so excited about my little container garden. So far I have gotten 2 yellow squash from on squash plant in a pot and 5 cucumbers from 2 pots of bush cucumbers. My upside down tomato plant is finally producing too. There are about 9 green tomatoes on it.
I can't wait til next summer to plant a big garden. This is my first try at gardening and I am enjoying it so much.

Wow! I was excited that I had enough green beans for a side dish at dinner last night. lol We have cucumbers, green beans, tomatoes, bell peppers, okra and carrots. I planted squash, but it sprouted, grew big, had lots of flowers, then withered and died.
I'm about to plant a second round, maybe some squash, lettuce, I don't know what else.Nicole, Mom of 4 ages 6-16~

Tons of broccoli is already in the freezer, green beans coming faster than I can can, tomatoes starting to cover us up, apricots ready and sandhill plums calling for picking. The corn is about ready too. Got to get busy. Add chickens and rabbits to butcher and I might stop by october and take a breath

Magnolia, have you done the upside down thing before with your plants? I wanted to try it, but dh was skeptical. Sometimes he can be a stick-in-the-mud.

You can have some of our rain! It's so wet that the tomato plants aren't dropping their pollen which means they aren't producing fruit. grrrr

Wow, whole lotta growing & harvesting going on. We lost our cucumber plants and I still can't believe it but the swiss chard died too. That NEVER happens. On the plus side everything else is growing great and we've had broccoli & cauliflower. Can't belive the matured so fast, usually we aren't eating much from the garden until August. On deck are the zucchini, peppers tomatoes & eggplant.
Enjoy your harvest!

We did 4 upside down tomato plants too. I have about half a dozen little green tomatoes. One isn't producing at all. I think something keeps eating the blossoms because it will have one or two then next time I go out the entire blossom is gone!
Darlene, our broccoli finally shot up. It's HUGE now. I have no idea what it's supposed to look like though. I've never done broccoli before. I'm so proud ....I grew these from seed
