Really, it's never too late to start a garden. We have something in our garden year 'round. What do you want to grow? (that's where timing factors in)

I just restarted a bunch of stuff here...and I'm up in Alberta...we've got a crazy short season. I'd think you have tons of time.

I grew up in PA, it was this time of year when my mom would plant green beans and peas again to get a second harvest from. Tomatoes should be fine if you are buying plants and not trying to start them from seed. Cucumbers to me would be iffy from seed also, they aren't as quick as the green beans.

Some vegetables have a quick growing season so it's okay to plant some later in the season. By the way, there's no such things as stupid questions here on FV.

I dont think it's too late, I am NE PA and I started late this year too but my garden is growing.
Dont forget we usually have warm weather up until October or later, recently.... you have PLENTY of time.

I'm in MD. You can grow zucchini, yellow squash, beans, cukes, herbs from seed now. (Most of these are 45-60 days to harvest.) Too late for green peppers and tomatoes from seed, but you still might be able to find plants at a farmer's market or roadside stand.

some crops grow better in a fall garden they like to mature in the cooler temps peas, radishes, lettuce spinach plus root crops like beets and turnips can be left in the ground and the frost will not hurt them.
