    Default talk chicken with me.

    i had a bag of starter feed that i got awhile ago when i was contemplating chicks. I opened it to pour it into a plastic container and found it was buggy. NAsty icky buggy. Not good. So i tossed it.

    I would LIKE to make my own starter. Is it possible? Do you have an ingredient list? I found some online and i would like your recipe. ROFL, in very small batches...i am not getting 60 lbs of anything!

    i ended up ordering from mc murray. ( www.mcmurrayhatchery.com ) if anyone is interested.

    I more or less wanted to make a starter, but for as few as i will get it's not worth it to make it. But for their 6 wk + food i would be interested in making our own to SUPPLIMENT store bought with.

    what can i feed my birds (in addition to) store bought feed?

    some things i feed my other birds
    hulled millet
    sunflower seeds
    safflower seeds
    steel cut oats
    millet sprays
    crushed corn
    flax seed

    can these be fed to the chickens?
