Congratulations on your new 'babies'. I love my chickens. We've downsized from about 45 to 25 (including about 4 roosters). I've got 10 newbies but decided this year to let their mama's take care of them. I have four hens with about 10 chicks between them. Its so sweet to see them lead them around the yard. I still have one hen that has been sitting for at least 6 weeks now. She has been a bad mama. She's squished her babies before their hatched or kicked them out of the nest. I'll be so glad when she gives it up.

mine are now about 2 weeks old...growing like weeds. I got 15 new ones after the neighbors dogs killed all but 1 of my others. She's an easter egger and started laying about 3 weeks ago. I get 1 egg a day from her. I cant wait to get the new babies in the coop with her because shes bored being all by herself, when we had the other chickens I couldnt even get near her..now if she sees me outside she flys over the run fence and comes trottin across the yard to see me.

the new babies are 3 wyandottes, 3 leghorns, 1 EE roo, 3red sex links, 2 barred rocks and 3 silkies

I had about twenty new chicks born this year. They all think I'm mom, because I feed them treats every morning. :-) People think my chickens are aggressive, because they will come running at you in one big feathered mob when you get out of your car. But in reality, they just all think you have food. (Okay, they are a LITTLE spoiled.) So far, only two known roosters in the new chicks. One, Chester, is a little orange thing who thinks he is about seven feet tall. We had to work on him not being a stinker. My resident rooster is a HUGE white bird that I got from my local animal control. He is the sweetest thing you've ever met, but totally devoted to his girls. I'm not sure how happy he is about having new young roosters around, but I keep telling him it is his own fault.

Congrats on your new babies. I just love baby chicks. We have 3 new ones that were born 4 days ago. We left them with mama. Our RIR's are in one brooder and the keets are in another. We have babies everywhere so I know how excited you are.

Dh and I just sit after the evening feeding and milking and just watch the little guys and gals. We get a charge out of watching them try to scratch with those tiny feet.

    what breed are your pullets?

I got a variety of breeds because the guy I went to was offering pullets of...im guessing 6 or so...breeds. He'd already had them sexed so I am fairly sure i got pullets and no cockerels.
