Baby rabbits dying---
Yesterday and then this morning have found a dead baby rabbit. They will be 1 month old on the 19th.
The hutch is clean. The food pellets are fresh as the water is also.
I have not a clue what is going on.
There are no wounds of any kind. Wouldn't know where they could come from if there where. The babies have never been on the ground.
Just don't know what to think.
Any ideas?????

just might be a fluke... you know they say that if there was something wrong, usually nature will take its course. Just check the usual, water, clean, and such.
Sorry for your loss though..
I just love animals.. I have a rabbit the size of a small dog.. and he is a family fixture...

I lost three rabbits without a cause either. I wondered if they got wet and cold ~ obviously not the case now. My fourth rabbit had a dirt back side from sitting in her litter and the bugs... Well, you fill in the rest. They have very sensitive systems. My mom claims that their family dog scared some of theirs to death. Storms maybe? I am so sorry!

I have heard that they can scare easily and sometimes die of stress....could that be a factor? I am sorry about the bunnies!! I just love those little guys!

Could mom have culled it from the litter? Could s/he have gotten a parasite from maybe a mosquito or other insect? Too hot? too cold?
I have no idea, but i am sorry it happens. It really stinks when we lose one.~~ Missy ~~

do they have timothy hay? fresh veg and fruit?
do you know about flystrike? it's when they have a dirty butt, and the flies lay their eggs on bunny's backside. gross, but can kill.
do they have something soft to lie on, wire floor in hutches hurt their little feet?
could they be "scared to death"
i too have a house rabbit the size of a small dog. funny and friendly.11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

I brought the last two surviving to the house. They are in a rabbit cage under a heat lamp. Besides the pellets and fresh water I am giving them a bottle every hour or so with warm goats milk in it. They also have alfalfa twists to munch on.
They have nothing visible that would tell me that there is something wrong. Poo looks fine. Taking the bottle fine.
I am just not getting this. Gonna be up all night I know taking care of these guys. If they don;t make it is not from me not trying.

Update on babies:
The two remaining babies are alive and well this morning. Both took the warm bottle this morning and seem active.
I will keep them inside with me for another 4 weeks. They are not suppose to be weaned yet however Gretels milk may have dried up early. My thinking anyway.
