Wow, what a nice crop of taters. I love the color! Do they retain the color when cooked? How is the flavor of this variety?

Those are so cool. I wonder if they would do well this far south, I am in Texas. I made my DH come take a look at your pictures. We both are fascinated by them. How are you going to cook them? I am curious as to the flavor also.

Thanks for sharing the pics of your crop with us.

Russian Blue potatoes were grown for the novelty last year, and I put in seven plants in 2008, since there was sufficient space in the garden.

Some blues have been baked, and they keep their colour and structure, just like the cross section picture that was posted, also on the other URL, there is a picture of one baked and cut open. They seem to be slightly more dense in structure than ordinary potatoes. Some have been boiled, and they are just fine to eat. I simply wash with a brush, and eat skin and all.

Now I am interested in how well they store long term. I think they will store well, since there maybe slightly less moisture in the tubers.

Anyway they are fun to have on the table, when having a social dinner. Something novel and new.

I am sorry that I did not look at the other link, I did not realize that they were two different sets of pics. I enjoyed reading your blog of the potato planting.
