The quince are still outside on the picnic table. They are getting more yellow with a bit of red. Some will be cooked with cinnamon, and cloves for flavor and eaten like a fruit dish.

It appears to me one has to add too much sugar to make them beneficial. After further ripening it is hoped this can be reduced.

I am still learning about this fruit. It may end up being something one only eats if something more suitable is not available.

The final line is I am still experimenting.

I have a flowering quince also. I have read that they make a wonderful jelly. Very sweet and a pretty rose color. The instructions I have read to make the jelly do call for ALOT of sugar.

The fruit is a cross between a pear and an apple. That is what some say anyway.

Years ago, I used them for interior decor (wreaths, ornaments and various wall hangings). They were sliced and dried (like dried apple slices).

Durgan, You have such a wide variety of fruits/vegetables. It's great to read about them. Thank you.
