Come on Gardeners.
I am beginning to feel like an orphan on this gardening forum.
There is about 33 million people in Canada, There must be a few gardeners who can grow things, and operate a computer.
Let's see what you got?Durgan

I'm not in canada, but I do grow lots of things all year round. Right now I got lettuce, green peppers, hot peppers, radishes, and a few tomatoes. Been thinking about how to continue some of the veggie even in the winter. Had our first frost last night, tonight lows in the 40's.
But I'm with ya! Let's talk.

I should have mentioned anybody, not just Canada. I like to see what other people are growing. If I am interested I have a look at the Zone, and then can decide if the plant in question can be successfully propagated.
Winter growing is too much hassle for me, since I have to supply heat, light, and the necessary space. I try to maximize my Summer season growing.Durgan

My garden is nothing to talk about... literally.
A spot of a plot about 3'x5' with something wrong with the soil that I now have to rely on canister planting.
I do have a pot of garlic planted right now, but there isn't much else I can do at the moment. Cold, frost, and they already mentioned the "S word" yesterday.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

I'm looking to expand a few things next year and maybe get some posts set for grape trellises next year.
My raised beds (2) are only 4X8 so I need to build a couple more. Sq ft gardeneing is not for me.
Picked the last of the beets the other day and a couple carrots that were hidden.Russ

I'll take a picture of my garden bed. No plants and no weeds. I did put a layer of newspaper over it and will most likely roll it up and then till in the spring. I have 2 heads of garlic I want to plan this weekend but other than that my garden pictures would be rather nondescript.
I will be sitting down and making a list of materials needed to expand my garden next year. I have a front garden that gets full morning sun and I'm not a fan of flowers so I might pull everything out and build some individual boxes for some vegetables. I wish I had more to offer at this time but sadly, no.The Free Spirit Saver who walks the path with Greebo.

My garden was put to bed a little earlier this year due to an overgrown rodent (deer) deciding he was going to help himself.
I have some pics of my garden in the gallery when it was alive & thriving.
We had our first hard freeze and are focusing on next years wood supply now. Always something to do.
Love your posts Durgan, especially the ones with your supervisor in them.
Hey, speaking of getting people involved, I know you must have some good $$ saving ideas. How about jumping into some of our other forums here? I'm betting you have a lot of food for thought to share.

I'm done gardening for this year, but I have a 10x 13 garden filled with tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, green and yellow beans, onions, and peas. This year I tried growing corn, brocolli, and squash too but had not much luck with any of them. I also have a small strawberry garden that my kids love helping me with... as they eat all the berries as soon as they turn red.

Sadly, my garden was pathetic this year. However, I am going to get some mature blueberry plants in a week or so and plant them where some of my garden is now. My mother has a wonderful garden and an amazing "green" thumb. I am hoping that I do better with the berry bushes.

I love to Garden! Unfortunately, my garden has now been put to rest for the rest of the year. When it was in full swing though I had toms, peppers, beans, beets, lettuce, cucumbers, strawberries (which didn't do so well) radish, and I just recently planted a blueberry bush (for next year). I'm going to start an herb garden on my window sills over the winter and see how that goes.

Durgan I to love your posts and beautiful pictures and of course your little helper! I have my husband look at your photos all the time. Thanks so much for all you have posted. Our 20 x 20 fully raised garden is doing well actually considering it's our first year attempting a vegetable garden. We harvested a lot during the summer of your typical summer goodies and have the following in it now.
Corn, doing well and about ready to be picked.
Sugar baby watermelon, one getting picked this weekend (the 4th one we've harvested) and 1 that's still growing.
I have a row of garden peas growing pretty nicely and starting to flower
4 Cherry tomato plants producing like crazy, and I'm harvesting daily
I have a row of bush green beans growing(trying those since the pole beans didn't do to well)
4 cauliflower plants
2 rows each of broccoli and brussel sprouts looking beautiful
Small patch of carrots
A row each of iceberg lettuce, leaf lettuce and spinach. Leaf lettuce doesn't want to grow though.
A small patch of green onions
A patch of garlic
A row of cabbage plants
About 18 hills of red and white potato plants.
All of them are in various stages of sprouting, growing, harvesting or near harvest time. I look forward to having it going in full in the spring. (We missed the actual spring plantings this year and only got started in late May) I should mention I'm in South Texas along the coastal bend so we are still able to have quite a bit growing at this time.

I am in the planning stages for next year. We just acquired a 1000 gallon tank to catch rain water from our barn. I am looking into wind-powered ways to set up a drip irrigation system using this. Otherwise, we are plotting out the garden and making MANY changes as to spacing and the starting of our seeds. Long story short, we have about 3 months to plan and then it will be time to start those seeds, not sure where or how yet.
