I'm so sorry! I totally forgot to update everyone on this!
I would have kept him if I could, but we can't have any type of "foul" in town!
I ended up calling the farm bureau, and they said they would help me try to find someone who would take him...well, I never heard back from them.
I actually called a friend who is a dispatcher at the police department. And as soon as I called her, she started laughing histerically. The same night I found the duck (this was the next morning), she was working the overnight shift, and someone had called her to report their missing duck. So, long story short, she ended up giving me their phone number and I was able to get the duck back where he belonged. (which is a family who lives in town, and is trying to keep the ducks under wraps). Had I reported the duck directly to the PD, he would have been removed from the home and the family would have been fined for breaking an ordanance. Luckily, I have a compassionate friend, who I called outside of work, so she left the lost duck call open, so the city doesn't know the duck was found!
They adopted the duck about a year ago, after the duck had been possibly hit by a car, or in some sort of accident. The duck cannot fly, though they don't know what the extent of his injuries were, but obviously something to do with his wings, that kept him from flying. He somehow had made it about a mile from home, before landing in my back yard.
I was so happy to get him home, especially when I found out that his intent was not to become someone's dinner! Her kids were so happy to find their duck...it was just like if my kids had lost their dogs!
Oh, and her kids had named him (aptly) Donald the Duck!

Very cool! Maybe they should look into microchipping him, as he appears to be a wanderer! (Or get him a girlfriend.)

That is so nice that the duck had a loving home to go to. I am sure you made their Christmas.
