Default Just got the garden plowed

I compromised to *ahem* quiet my wife's *ahem* vocalizations and did a small garden. It is only .34 acres instead of the .75 I wanted to plow. I ahd to get some help, as I do not have a subsoiler that would cut through the sod to prep the field. My neighbor cut it to 20 inches, then used a cutting harrow to level the field. I can now go with my finish harrow and maintain it at a depth of 10 inches, with that bottom 10 inches being soft for root development.

I'm pretty happy. Now I need to get the pile of horse manure from the horse farm up the street to copost in with the leaves I've been to lazy to get raked up to really enrich the soil.

Pardon the frost, it's freakin' cold here at 29 degrees!

Wow you've got a great head start on that garden.

You might have to start finding lots of canning jars! Our Walmart and local grocery stores no longer carry them due to vendor issues (whatever that means).

I recently read an article and I think it was in Mother Earth News that horse manure may prevent plant growth due to pesticides in the hay they eat. Of course people have been using horse manure for years so that may just be a rumor that was published.

29 degrees. yucko That's way cold. Maybe that's how you developed the "ahem" tickle in your throat.
