Gah!! Stinking birds
No eggs yet...wanna know why?? Because boys don't lay eggs. The guy who sold them to me said they were sexed already. They were pullets, he swore. Saw me coming a mile away. Now i gotta swap out a buncha roos with pullets that I am gonna have to buy. Gonna have to GIVE away the roos because there's noone here in town that can have or would want a roo.

argh.
I could go across town to the place near where i got my roos (bout 15 mi from my house), but I can't drive that far alone and I don't know anyone that would want to go on a hen run with me. Argh, argh.Last edited by Missy; 12-13-2008 at 03:21 PM.

much to my chagrin, yes. they are crowing. Not loud yet, they are finding their voices. I could explode right about now. My own fault for trusting someone i don't really know. But yeesh, you advertise pullets, they should be pullets, right?? Granted, his terminology was off then (they were day olds) it should have set off warning bells then. But, man alive!! ack ack ack. Guess we'll have chicken in the freezer, huh?

People like that dig their own graves, business-wise. Word of mouth is a contagious thing. Not only will you never buy anything from him again, but neither will anyone you warn.
Good luck with the next flock!DH aka Mad Hen

I would take the roosters back and when he opens his door, release them into his house. Oh well, I am sure his bad karma will catch up with him, but you have to admit my idea is a great mental picture.

And to think he's sleeping soundly at night, figuring he pulled (another?) fast one. Just not right, not right.
BTW, Missy -- re your "status" line about getting a degree online: I just finished a degree entirely online, and it was a wonderful way to accomplish it. I highly encourage you, and wish the very best! (P.S. It was a Master's in Adult and Higher Ed, so I'm kind of a "pusher" in this regard, esp. since I focused on distance learning!) BEST of luck to you!!

That's horrible! At least you can have them for meat in the freezer. I really miss the fresh eggs. I pray we can find a place where I can have a few hens again.
