    Default Beginning Gardening

I am pretty new at all this gardening stuff, not that I haven't had one before but never anything really big. I would really like to plant a bigger garden this year and have been looking all over for ideas. I run on to this website that has a ton of information for beginners and thought someone else may get something good from it. I hope to have it lead me in the right direction to be able to grow a nice big garden and have it pay for the work with produce that is home grown!
It also had ideas for flowers and may other guides and information. Hope it helps you too.

I started a Square Foot garden this past summer, really too late for much of anything. But I put in 2 tomato plants, a couple of cucumber plants, basil, and carots and had a bumper crop! I finally pulled up the tomato plants before frost with a ton of green tomatoes on them. I have the tomatoes in the garden shed and take out some every few days to ripen in the house.
After the garden's put in - raised beds, proper soil etc., there's nothing to do but water, control bugs, and harvest! Can't wait to plant again in the spring!

Thanks for the information. We bought our tiller this year and want to plant a huge garden next year. I know we need to get started on our planning now so we will be ready.

I am *brand* new to gardening, and I swear that the more I read about it, the more intimidated I get!

Thanks for the reminder about the sister site, homesteadmamma! I forgot about it, I'm embarrassed to admit! I think I'll head on over!
