It is impossible to get seed potatoes in February, so I selected some quality potatoes from the supermarket, since I want to chit 24 for about six weeks. These will be planted about mid April. I intend to plant about 72 plants in my home patch. Chitting has it advocates and detractors. I prefer to chit without digging our any eyes. I also plant without chitting, and have good results utilizing both methods.

Here is some material describing the chitting procedure, and supposed benefits.
