here come my seedlings....
i have been so impatient with my planted seeds...now granted they were in the cold garage they just weren't sprouting as fast as i thought they should be...(okay...i am VERY impatient) ....
so in the last 2 days....its a total MIRACLE.....i have seedlings popping their little heads up all over the trays... YEA!!!!!!!
so now i need to make the newspaper pots...i have decided each afternoon when i have read the paper i will immediately turn that days paper into a 'pile of pots'..... then i will be ready to replant...
one thing i did pick up on some gardening sites is plant your seedlings in 'unfertilized' soil....seed does not need fertilization....when the 1st two leaves of the plant are up...that's when to fertilize...if you used fertilized soil...don't fertilize the plant too coz it could 'burn it up'....
the garden is tilled and ready...the seedlings are blooming....now come-on old man winter...get the heck out of here.....>>
**** i'm gonna grow me a garden.....

Congrats - your gardener you!!!
How about some pictures of your seedlings and your grden in the garage??
Must have missed something about the newspaper pots - shall track it down - sounds smart and frugal!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

WOW! I can't wait to start too! Thanks for letting me know about the fertilizer. I woulda put it in thinking it was better. Guess I got alot to learn, hah?
BTW, I wanted to ask you something. You mentioned saving toilet paper rolls to use in gardening. What's that about?
And just one more, because I'm dying to know. In your avatar pic, are you the one with the glasses or the one with the hat? I'm gonna take a guess here, because when I read all your (great) posts, I think of you as the one w/glasses. Am I right? LOL!
Theresa
PS- Do you have a sunny garage? I would love to put some trays in mine, but it's totally shaded.

I know just how you feel. I checked my flower beds 2 days ago and nothing. I looked about 2 hours ago and guess what, my daffodils, crocus, tulips, and hyacinths are coming up. Finally spring is springing.

mama- you are right...i am the one with the big 'ole' glasses that are way too big for my head coz i forgot my own kinda syndrome....
yea..everyone has been asking me which one i am....
i am going to find a pic with just me and maybe my pets or maybe even dh...(if you guys have to ask me then....i really am in trouble)lol
the toilet paper rolls (or paper towel)....i cut them in about 2 inch slices and put them on a styrofoam tray (from meat or veggies or whatever)...fill with dirt and then pop a seed into them...they drain well that way and when the time comes i will just pop them out thru the bottom into the soil or out the top into a bigger pot...in all actuality you could just plant the whole thing but i think it would take too long to decompose and that would strangle the roots...(don't know for sure...but that's my take on it...)
if i ever get talented i might try to post some of my endeavors....then next year we can use them for the 'what not to do section'....
