Soil quality and tomato plants question
We have a patch of dirt along the front of our house that sits between the house and the rest of the yard. We have a large pine tree in the middle of the yard. The patch of dirt was subjected to cat and dog fecal matter and urine before we purchased our house.
We spent some time and put in peat moss in that dirt patch, removing about a foot of the old dirt to put the new stuff in its place. The old dirt was rather dry (almost of a sand quality) and the new dirt is way better, so that got me and DH thinking of putting in actual foliage in that spot.
I was wondering about the possibility of putting in tomato plants in that area of soil. It's a south-facing yard. I was going to put in bushes in that spot but with my love of tomatoes (and me being the only one who will eat a raw tomato in this house), I wanted some tomatoes for things like salsa and homemade tomato sauce.
Would the tomato plants survive with some plant food and healthy watering?Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

It sounds as if they should do fine. If it is south facing, they should get plenty of sun. I have found tomatoes to be not very picky as to where they are raised. Water and a little fertilizer will go a long way. Good luck.
