    Default Trying to hold back!

It has been in the 60's the past couple of days and I am desperate to plant something. I know that would be a mistake though, so I am holding back. I can't wait for growing season here.

Yep. I know the feeling.... it's so beautiful out. But you know as soon as you plant outside it's going to get cold out again. lol. I am going to be planting my pepper seeds in pots later today and get them started. We had a lot of problem with the peppers last year and hopefully this year they will do better if we start them inside earlier.

I know how hard it is, its been in the 60's or higher here for about 6 weeks. I am digging out weeds, grass, put in new mulch in and have the gardens ready to go. Theres alot of things to do here, just to get ready to plant. Just having your hands in the dirt helps!

I'm trying to keep myself in check too. I know we are going to get at least one more cold snap here!

Although, my lillies are starting to pop up! Yippee!

I have a sister who could kill a fake plant so don't feel too bad. My tulips are really coming up nice and thick. My crocuses are popping up all over. I can't wait to see the buds on the crabapple tree, and the cherry tree. I love when they are flowering. My lilac bush is budding already. I just hope we don't get a really bad freeze. That happened 2 years ago an our cherry tree didn't do so great that year.

i have tilled the garden 6 times.... i WANT TO PLANT.....! i understand completely..... i have since moved to the yard and am de-thatching it and patching bare spots....that is satisfying me for the moment.....

but the seedlings in the garage are really really tempting me......

Pinetree, my first thought was if you were in the 60's for a few weeks now, then plant. Then I saw you were in CO and 60's during the day can mean 20's at night LOL, I lived there 15 years. Here in OH, I fully expect it to be below freezing a lot more before we can plant and we will probably get another big snow storm. I will be surprised if we don't. It is back in the 40's today, so I definitely have to wait.

As mentioned above, now is a good time to turn the dirt, amend the soil and prepare your beds for planting. Also, some early cool crops can go out now. We are south of you but have had peas, spinach, onions and lettuce planted for a couple of weeks now. We just planted potatoes this week.

You can cover rows with a frost barrier that will protect them down to 28 degrees. Most importantly, check the soil temp. If the ground has warmed up... you can plant and use the frost barrier if the temp drops. Most of our seedlings aren't ready to transplant just yet, but if they were... we could do this.

The garden is tilled and ready to plant. I have been working in the flower beds because it seems once I start with the food crops the flowers become a lesser priority. Last weekend had to stop dividing perennials and come inside when it started to snow. AGAIN. Yuk

Worked in the garden all weekend. I got it plowed and half of it tilled and raked. I will till again after work tomorrow. The I have to be out of town for a few days so won't be able to work in it again till Friday.

I don't blame you one bit! It has only been in the 40's here and I am itching to get my hands dirty.
