I am now the proud owner of 2 laying hens!
And one has already laid an egg! Whoo!

We got them from a friend who brought them today. Now if I can get the dogs under control we'll be in excellent shape! The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. -Thomas Jefferson

I'm envious as well. We currently live in an apt and I can't have chickens but when I move into my own home (years from now) I will have some. I love fresh eggs and I know I can get chicks at a fairly reasonable price around here. Good luck on your new chickens!!

Have you thought about a rooster to protect them if you allow them to range feed?

We live in town so I can't have a rooster, noisy things and all. We can have 2 chickens so I'm going have to happy with that!
