Coyotes Didn't Get The Turkeys
I've not seen the turkey flock we usually have meandering through the field while grazing. I was sure the coyotes had gotten them.
Two or three years ago I had to stop the car while 20 wild turkeys crossed the drive in front of me at an incredibly slow pace. Last year I hardly saw any. I figured they were goners.
This weekend DH counted 25 of them crossing our drive and making their way through the front yard. Evidentally these turkeys are not as dumb as the ones I've read about in books. These birds are survivors.
They were a welcome sight.

We have turkeys too, around our house. Which surprises me because every time we try to get a goose or a peacock, they disappear. Usually bobcats or eagles.

Now that I know how many are around I worry about them. If I'm not mistaken, Turkey season opens next month. If it's not the four legged predator it's the two legged one. I've seen them roost in the tops of trees before. I hope they do that and stay there until the season is over.
