This plant was grown in 2008. It was found to require warm temperatures, and is relatively slow growing compared to the Physalis pruninosa ( Aunt Molly Ground Cherry). The fruit tends to stay on the stems of the plant when ripe, which is a plus. The fruit is large about the size of a good sized cherry, and probably a third larger than the Physalis pruninosa. The plant require about a 3 to 4 foot cube space for growing, so I grow three or four plants.

    Hey Durgan,
I just planted some Aunt Molly Ground Cherries this morning! Well, I seeded them to start indoors, anyway.
Never grown them or tasted them before - thought I'd try them out.

We were just in Brantford 2 weeks ago for a dance competition. The Sanderson Theatre is absolutely beautiful!

One plant was placed in an ideal location, full sun and not crowded. The plant was mulched and a cover supplied in the event of a frost.
