I have snakes!
I found two little brown snakes under stones in my garden today as I was preparing it for tilling. It's a very good sign, it means that my yard is healthy and there is lots of food here for them. Snakes eat bugs, and bugs like good soil. Given the number of woodlice, beetles, and other insects, I think they are going to be very well fed snakes this summer.

LOL, i get panicy when I see them, but I know they wouldn't be here if they didn't have a source of food available. Can't have that without a healthy good producing yard. So...good job!!

Last year at my sister's place I used the south side of the house for the tomatoes, since it's the sunniest and warmest, and some garter snakes took up residence there. She was horrified and would only pick tomatoes while standing as far as possible from the house, stretching her arms to get at the upper branches and refusing outright to reach in towards the base of the plants to harvest any.

We have plenty of garden snakes in and around our yard. We have one in particular that resides under a rock in the front flowerbed. The first time I moved the rock he scared me, but not anymore!

We always have copperheads slithering around our garden ~ I hate those snakes! Last year they loved to shed their skins in the garden and I just stopped going into it and made DH do it, LOL!

I love snakes, but I think I'd rather find a shed copperhead skin in the garden than a copperhead still using its skin!
