It is always a pleasure to see bees in the garden. Apparently there will be more soon, since Ontario is banning many 'cides.

Ontario’s lawns, gardens, school yards and parks will be a lot healthier beginning Earth Day, April 22, 2009. That’s the effective date of the province’s cosmetic pesticides ban.

This is what my sister and her hubby found today in the backyard... Their neighbor raises bees I guess, and this year there were one too many queen bees for the hives he has... I would not want this in my backyard. The beekeeper from town came to the rescue.....Enjoy this photo(I hope)

I have honey bees pretty much year round. Since I live in the south, my orange and lemon trees have already bloomed, been cross pollinated by the bees and have teeny fruit on them already. I think I need to cut off some of the lemons because the tree is young, not very tall, and COVERED in lemons. Last year I only got 8 lemons because we had high winds that blew most of the blooms off before the bees could pollinate them.

The honey bees are having a good time also with my Mexican Heather and Asian Jasmine. We have had great weather and rain when we needed it (in spite of being in a drought until this past Saturday).

I don't think that the bee population is dwindling here in this part of Oregon, obviously by the one hive in my sisters backyard. She had it removed because she has small children and knowing them they would toss rocks at it and then there could be a big disaster.. I have thought about bee keeping for the honey, but living in the city I can't do hives, let alone any chickens... Although it is allowed for the chickens.

The bees have been out here for about a month, I try to attract them here. I keep hearing alot of them are dying.
Pine trees, with their needles pointing up to heaven, represent everlasting light and life.
