Default What veggies can be grown upside down?

We had good luck with tomatoes last year, and are looking to plant more veggies in 5 gal buckets . Our front porch gets the best sun, so I hope our neighbors dont mind our hanging buckets (I might paint the buckets to make it look a little more pleasing! LOL)
Have you had any luck with other veggies upside down?
    Thanks much!
Bought my new oven 1/08 and loving it!

Peppers can be grown upside down as well. I've planted zucchini, eggplant, cucumbers, and chives in 5gal buckets as well with great success - but not upsidedown. The chives even came back year after year, even though the bucket was left outside all winter.

I am sorry I do not have experience in growing upside down but I think I would defiantly try cucumbers and Squash as they both seem to do well any where you normal plant them.

I have seen this on TV ans have always wondered about the weight of the fruit tearing the plant . How does it work with the weight of the fruit?

The box for the Topsy Turvy planters says....

Grows all varieties of tomatoes, also grows other vegetables including green bell peppers, zucchini, cucumbers, eggplant and more!

I remember at Disney World seeing all that you have mentioned as well as full pumpkins. they even clamped these plastic mickey ears moulds around them to make them grow in the shape of mickey ears. so if the vine can hold the full weight of a pumpkin, I think that you can grow most anything.

Last year we had no trouble with the weight of the tomatoes tearing the vines. We just used 5 gallon plastic buckets and had to water them fairly often.
Thanks for the replies, I think I will try green peppers and cucumbers. At least the bunnies can't get them!
