Spring Flowers Free!
Our local greenhouse dumps their out of season/unsold stuff in the town's leaf dump. I regularly after they do this grab the potting soil they leave, I mean why not use it, it's free!
Last year there were a whole lot of bulbs with the soil, so I grabbed those too and planted them out on the hill where I'm trying to get chives and daffs and jonquils to naturalize. There's been a lot of green coming up out there and I didn't think about it, except to be glad that the chipmunks and squirrels hadn't eaten all the bulbs this winter....
But I was staring out the window today and realized I have hyacynths! They must be from the free bulbs as I've never planted them.
Cool!

That is so nice it reminded me of years ago my Mom and I went to go buy some of the end of the season plants we looked at them and left then came back and they were all gone we knew that that had not sold them yet and when we drove around the building we saw them in the dumpster so mom and I went dumpster diving it was so much fun and we were able to bring alot of those plants back to life. We never found anything like that again so we reflected on that day every since.
Enjoy your flowers!Last edited by Janbee; 04-27-2009 at 08:07 PM.

You lucky girl. Nothing beats free flowers and hyacinths to boot. Nice find.
