    Default Fern-Leaf Peony (Paeonia tenuifolia)

    Fern-Leaf Peony (Paeonia tenuifolia)

A very pretty Spring flowering plant. It is four years since planted from another's garden. The clump gets a little larger each year, and appears to be slow growing in my area.

I have never seen one like that. It is pretty
We just have regular type peony flowers here. Actually only
    put ours in last summer.
We were buying just hanging plants every year for our deck.
Last year we started buying more flowers that will come back every year. We are going to have nice row of iris finally.

The scarlet flower is in full bloom. The blooms follow the Sun, when bright the flower opens and on a dull day the flower remains closed.

Now that's different. I've never seen one or even heard of one, but that is pretty.

Yours are further ahead than mine. We have had a really cold spring here in WI though. The ones I have are more of a ruby color. I'll try to post pic as they bloom.

For those looking for fern leaf peonies --- they are not easy to find -at least where I live. A WI-based plant/seed place started offering them about 5-6 years ago but they don't come cheap. They still price them at $40 a piece, but they were over twice that when they first started listing them.

I was very fortunate to get mine from a church rummage sale from a women who had lots of them growing around her old family home. I bought whatever I could at the time - I think I paid $1 per root division, and I shared them with my mom and sisters. They are a beautiful addition to my perennial bed.

That is really pretty durgan. Thanks for posting it.

Made me ever more excited for mine to open. It is almost there and should start opening this weekend. It got taller this year. Is about two feet and covered with blooms. It is the double. Looks like yours is the single one. I would like to have both. Am going to try to divide mine this year as I want more of them and they are not only a little hard to find but a bit pricey. I keep watching for them in my nursery shopping.
