    Question Planting Roses

My husband sent me 4 dozen beautiful pink long stem roses for our 1 year wedding anniversary this year and I was wondering if I was able to grow a rose bush by planting some of the roses? I am not to sure how to do it and if I even can, any advise would be great!!

I have seen rooting hormone that works on woody stem lpants. I don't know if roses aare one of them. I have found it under the brand Shultz, but Scotts and othres might have it too. Check with a local garden center for it. Basically you dip the end of the desired cutting into the powder, then put in a specific substrate. leave for X amount of time and then move into a growing medium. heres a link with the description of all the steps...this one is with boxwoods...

I don't know if this will work but you can try it

Make sure you have 3 slips, 3 groups of leaves on the stem. Plant it outside in the shade, in good potting or topsoil, cover it with a glass jar. Keep it moist, not real wet. Sometimes they start, sometimes they dont. When it does start to show new growth remove the glass jar. You will have to transplant it to a sunny location. I usually wait until the next spring. ( sometimes it takes along time to start, if you arent sure just leave it, sometimes it would sprout the next year.)

We tried some last year with the starting powder like Missy is talking about with no luck, So dont wait to long. A nursery can help you. You might try both ways to see if either will work.

    Good Luck!

I had no idea. I would try it with the roses my bil & his gf bought for me, but they're already on their way out...
