This is a shade plant, and likes normal moisture, and composted soil around the roots in the Spring.

<================= Check out my avatar... this bumble bee is enjoying the bleeding heart in my front yard, mostly nestled in the shade but it does get a little bit of sun in the late afternoon. It thrives and has been coming back for about five years now.

I love this plant! I planted one a few weeks ago. Good to know it doesn't require total shade. I have a shady back yard, but the spot I planted it gets some sun for a few hours a day.
