Smile Good plant combos for veggie garden

This was published in a newspaper and they didn't say where the 'source' came from but I thought some of you 'serious veggie gardeners' might find this useful, if you didn't already have the info.
These plants, when planted together, are supposed to bring 'beneficial bugs' to each other. (there is also an incompatible list but since this is so long will post it under another title)

    Winning Plant Combinations

    Basil: peppers, tomatoes
    Beans: corn, cucumbers, radishes, strawberries
    Beets: lettuce, cole crops (broccoli,
    Brussel sprouts, Cabbage, Cauliflower),onions
    Carrots: peas, tomatoes

I have to say, that I have some basil in a pot on it's own, and some planted with some cherry tomatos in a pot - the ones planted with the tomatos are outgrowing the one in it's own pot in every way. Plus, those tomatos have buds already, and the ones on thier own do not as of yet.

If you plant 3 corn stocks in a circle and 4 pole beans right outside of the circle, the beans will climb the corn stocks. Very good for small spaces.

Thanks. I used to have a book called "Carrots Love Tomatoes" but probably loaned it to someone who didn't get it back to me. This list is just what I needed!

Yeah, pat, I think most of these lists come out of that book....heading off to post the incompatible now.

There has been great discussion if this really works or not and I wouldn't know as I am not a 'big veggie gardner' like some here but thought it might be something to keep in mind for the people that plant lots of stuff.

Thes lists are supposed to be great for production and for bringing in the beneficial bugs for each plant.
