Taste is sweet, and no difficulty eating raw, and probably comparable to many types of table grapes. The fruit matures in late August.Durgan

Can anyone tell me more about transplanting a bush?

My cousin is supposed to be saving me a bush and I will be bringing it home probably in Aug.......which could be our heat time. Should I leave it in the pot until we cool off?......transplant it right away? what do you advise?
Not sure what kind/the name of it is. I hated them for years. Always liked gooseberry pie; but I had to not only pick the things off the thorny bushes
but then de-stem them as a kid, so it took me awhile to adjust my thinking that maybe they weren't all that bad. (we had four bushes and my mother would inspect to see if I got them "clean'.....HATED THAT JOB!)

In August 2008 a branch was taken off one of my Gooseberry bushes, and placed in a gallon pot and kept wet. I buried this pot in the ground to overwinter and this spring 2009 about April 15 the bush was sprouting leaves. I gave it to my neighbor, and she simply removed the plant from the pot and placed in her garden.
I have also observed that a branch that bends to the ground and enters the soil, that it will take root at that point.Durgan
