Default had to pull out the potatoes

We are so dissappointed, they all came out and went in the trash. The leaves started curling up and drying so DH took one in, its either a fungus or some type of worm, they were growing like crazy too.

Now are replanting them & sprinkling with sulfur powder this time. Now we have to wait for the ground to dry out so we can get in to plant them.

They also said all the rain isnt helping, the ground is so wet and doesnt have a chance to dry out.

my raised beds seem to be draining pretty well...maybe you could put some in a planter of some sort that drains well so that if the rain continues like this the rest of the summer you will still be able to harves at least some?

I'm sorry, pinetree. Could it be cutworm?

As soon as you get leaves, mix up some dishsoap and water and give them a spritz! It seems to be doing the trick in my garden this year!

I wish I had an answer for you. You could take one of the plants to your local Cooperative Extension office. If they can't give you an answer, they can send a sample to your state plant pathology lab.

My black current bushes are starting to get leaf curl, and when I uncurled those leaves, there are lots of tiny green aphids, sucking the life out of them.
Last year I spritzed them with watered down dish-detergent, and that ended the aphids.

I don't know if that's the problem with your potatoes; there are so many things that can go wrong when you are trying to grow plants.
Hope your next try works for you!

Ahhh, the joys and frustrations of gardening! ((((pinetree)))) I would try to get them into some sort of raised bed where the soil can drain well.

Some of them are in a raised bed, some in the garbage bags, some in a black trash can, and some in tires. We tried all kindas of differrent things to find out what worked best.

One of the plants in the trash can seems to be ok.

The extension office is the ones that told us the problem. When DH dug the plants out the potato was a big ball of mush. Its like the potato part just turned to jelly. The plants were about 2 feet tall with a mushy potato at the end.

We are just replanting & going to see what happens next, I could loose every thing today by hail.

Madhen, they told us to use the sulfur to keep the bugs off of them, sprinkle everytime you hill.
