Anyone living off-grid or want to learn how ?
Hi folks,
I am new to this group but a long time off-grid homesteader.
I live in a solar cabin I designed and built myself for under $2000. I use solar electric for water pump, lights, tvs, laptop and gadgets. Propane for fridge, stove, furnace, and OD water heater.
I use a solar composting toilet of my own design, harvest rain and greywater, and drilled my own well by hand.
I raise chickens, rabbits, and a garden for food.
Anyone else living off-grid or want to learn how ?
LaMar

Hi LaMar,
I am hoping to go solar some day soon. I live up on a bluff and have perfect exposure. But right now, I'm still relying on the power company.
I keep chickens for their eggs and I also have a veggie garden and a couple of dozen fruit trees and shrubs. I am adding a few trees every year so that I will have access to just about every fruit I love (and that will grow in my climate) by the time I retire.
Would love to hear how you built your solar cabin!!DH aka Mad Hen

I would love to hear as well. We are looking into adding solar to our house in the next year or so. We're also looking into wind as well. Here in New England, wind is plentiful!

I just checked out your site and love the pictures. We are looking into buying property in the next year or two and hope to be able to live off grid too. Hope to see more posts from you.

It didn't work, but if you Google going off grid in east Tennessee, you'll get it.

I would love to learn how to live off the grid. We just moved about a year and a half ago from a large city to a acre and a half in the country and want to learn everything.

I don't have a problem with what he does for a living, if he wants to offer constructive posts. Too bad, if he knows what he is talking about, that he is not more willing to be part of a community.
