    Default Ornamental Grass Bed

Growing these grasses is a delight to me, since I never had success in the places I lived before. The types are unknown but they are perennials and get quite large by the end of the Summer season.

    Wink

Ornamental grasses are very interesting in a garden setting--and some are very prolific.
I've got some ribbon grass, purchased as a small tuft growing in a 3 inch pot 2 springs ago. By now, it had taken over my flower border, so this spring I transplanted all of it into various pots and planters, and that amounted to 7 of them!
Wonder if it will survive a Canadian winter while potted up, and covered with snow?

    Durgan and Incog...thanks for posting.

I have been 'eyeballing' some grasses. One of which was the ribbon grass as it is soooo pretty. But I know so very little about them and was afraid that they would be invasive or have some seed head that would get into the dogs fur. (or worse yet, EARS!..been there done that) Didn't need that! I have bought enough plants that ended up invasive! (still clearing some of them out!)
A friend is starting a 'grass garden' so I am awaiting her results.
Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

    Wink More about Ribbon Grass

    Back to ya!
Ribbon grass doesn't have seed pods or anything like that, it just likes to spread out. It's very pretty, and an interesting contrast in any garden. Mine has successfully managed the transplanting stage and is now happily growing in all of the planters I previously mentioned. AND THAT'S WHERE IT'S STAYING!
It's really stunning in a shade garden, too; I've got some in the sun, some in semi-shade, and some in shade, and it's all thriving!
    All the best!

My bed doesn't expand much from year to year.
