Niobe Clematis

This magnificent bloomer is about four years old. The color varies with the picture taking light to some degree, but the last picture is probably the true color.

That is beautiful.
Pine trees, with their needles pointing up to heaven, represent everlasting light and life.

Very pretty.
I agree the second picture looks more like the true color. I call mine a burgundy color.
Mine is blooming now too and some of the blooms this year got huge. I put a pic in my album with a tape measure up to it. The blooms have never been this big.

I don't know why you can't. It would have to be in the garage, or otherwise protected, during the winter. With that and good soil am sure it would work. Cover the roots in the pot with, if not a plant, then some rocks. With clematis....head in the sun, feet in the shade.
I didn't even trellis mine for two years....just let it wind around itself in the garden and become this huge burgundy mound. People couldn't believe it was a clematis. I have a yellow one started now as a ground cover...this could be fun and interesting.
