Default I can't believe my garden & question

My garden is taking off and I love it! We decided to take down 1 more tree to see if we could get more light on the garden. We picked a tall one in the front yard, even though the garden is in the back yard. It just seemed to block so much of the morning sun. As soon as that thing hit the ground my garden was bathed in sunlight. It went from 3 hours a day to 7, yay! So my plants are growing like crazy and I have green beans for the first time.

Which is my question. I threw out the seed packet, I know I shouldn't have! But how long do the beans typically get before you pick them? They are long and very skinny, but the tip is still very, very skinny. Is this going to fill out? I know there are so many kinds of bush beans, but generally speaking, when do I harvest? Also, am I right in thinking that they should continue to produce until the fall? If so, I am so excited!

Generally speaking, no the tip doesn't fill out. If you let them go too long, they will be tough. Usually they only take about 2 - 3 days to mature. I usually pick beans every morning.

Not only do your plants have more sunlight, they also have more water and nutrients, because I bet that tree took everything it could lay its roots on!

We have unusually skinny beans this year too. But at first, I was letting them go thinking they would "thicken" up, but they just turned yellow and went bad. So go ahead and pick them while they are skinny!

they are soo good when they are skinny like that. I was always told that you should let thing dry off before you pick beans so they don't rust. I know people that don't and they are fine but I tried it once and all the beans rusted. Go figure.
