Default Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus)

Two types of flower, obtained as small shoots in 2004 from a friends garden. They are most stunning when they burst into bloom suddenly. The plants take almost no maintenance.

These are truly beautiful! We had these, both the white and purple, all around the farm when I was growing up, and there are still a few left. I wonder if I could get a few cuttings for my own yard?

Any shoot with a bit of root will grow if kept moist. It takes about three years to get a respectable bush. Mine were mere twigs when planted in 2004.

I just planted 6 of these in my backyard this summer. 3 pink and 3 purple. They are pitiful compared to yours. I can't wait for them to get as big as yours. Mine are only about 18 inches tall. They really do have gorgeous flowers though. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
