Default Where do you get your seeds at?

Ok, we all know that fall is coming and some stores may have put away their seeds by now. I know that the Superstore here remodeled and I can't find their seed selection without asking, so I might look elsewheres for seeds.

I'm particularly interested in some plants I've seen on here... primarily the snake garlic that Durgan grew (I looove garlic). However, I know I won't find that seed in the store I go to. I'm exploring other avenues of procuring some seeds for the gardens next year.

How do you get your seeds? If you can't get them in the store, do you order them online?

My local seed sources (Agway, the hardware store, and the farmstand where I work) mostly put their seeds on sale by this point. It's a perfectly good way to buy seeds cheaply as mostly they're good for 2 years or more, if not exposed to freezing tempuratures.

The farmstand pulled the seed display over month ago. My guess is that whatever we had left will be used to augment the seeds they buy next year, although most of what remained was flowers, not vegetables. The hardware store has the end of its seed display up and if it's like last year, the packets will be 1/2 off until they're gone.

This is also a good time to buy perrenial herbs cheaply. Look for sage and other such plants. If you can get them established enough before the cold, they'll come back next year. My sage returns yearly, as do my mints. Also biennials: leeks, root parsley, etc.

(By the same token, between now and October say is a good time to get cheap perrenial shrubs, ground cover and so on too.)

    Good luck!

I order mine from seedsavers.org since their heirlooms, but I did get a bunch of flower seeds and bulbs at Pamida last night 90% off
