We have a rooster!
And it only took me 4 1/2 months to figure that out.
We bought some day-old chicks in June. We'd ordered only females because the roosters we've had in the past were huge pains.
Dh mentioned this weekend that we had a rooster. I told him no way, I'd been checking. No signs of rooster behavior. Well, Mr. Rooster crowed a big ol' long crow for dh. More than once. So unless I have a crowing hen (that can happen), we have a rooster. Why have I never heard him crow in all these months? I must be deaf. He's an Arucauna, so doesn't look like a typical rooster either. I haven't seen him chasing women either- that's usually a huge tip-off that you have a rooster.

congratulations!! Will you let him stay?

Yes, we're going to keep him. One of our sons thinks he'd like to try breeding him with the rest of the flock. Even if we don't do that, we'll leave him be. I figure if he's fooled us this long, he's here for good!

Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

Congrats
Our orpingtons that were born middle of June this year are starting to mature. 12 girls, 4 boys....we think. One of the roosters just started to crow. He has a real squeaky voice so far.
Plan is to keep 2 and probably will sell the other 2. Now one is being mean just a little bit so far , so will have to keep our eye on him.
Our big rooster, Mr Bert, is not happy with the upcoming crew of males. He is already bumping heads with a few of them. Especially when they get treats. Going to be interesting.--------My signature--------

Put the frog in pot, turn up the heat real slow, and the frog doesn't hop out. And by the time he realizes, he should , it's too late... think about it.
