    Final Harvest

I went out on Dec. 8 and dug the turnips and carrots from my garden. I have 13 carrots and 16 turnips. That is the last of the vegetables for the year.

    I'm already planning for spring.

Nice period. I would like to try gardening next spring. I've tried here several times and only thing to grow are peppers. Nothing but sand. Expensive to have muck hauled in. Tried container gardening. It was so so. Will try again. I love reading this stuff.

They look great CH. And fresh.......YUM!

I am planning too.......I love it when the seed/plant catalogs start rolling in before Xmas. I can look at them all and dream/think about
warmer weather. Going to try some more new stuff this year.

Thanks for the comments. I planted them in August and they were supposed to be ready in late Oct according to the seed packet.... but they weren't so I let them go... and once it got cold I just left them in the ground, it's as good as the fridge. I had to pick them this week because it was going to snow, and it was actually icing over when I went out (see the shiny leaves?)

We had steamed turnips with butter last night. I will put some in the corned beef dinner next week. I also cut them up and roast them with potatoes, carrots and squash seasoned with herbs.
