My new Greenhouse will arrive in 1 week.......
I'm so happy I can barely stand the wait..I have never learned to start plant's from seed..I always just went and bought whatever I needed that was already established..This open's so many door's for me..Not to mention my dream job is to own a little farmer's market type style stand right on my own property..where I'm located I'm a direct road to the main road if that makes any sence?..alot of
city people pass my house...(no offence to them of coarse..just means that they have alot more money to spend) and they love fresh fruit & veggies..I'm lucky (have mentioned this in other post's..sorry for the repeats) that my little brother bought a home that has a mini orchard of (senior/well fruited) Apples,Peaches,Pears and a huge Mulberry tree that I can pick as much as I want..
I now can grow my own food in the winter too..Wow doesn't seem real!!!
I'm going to plant my own flower seeds to grow in the hanging pot's..no more spending $25.00 for 1 when I can grow 8 of my own for that price...
I read that I can grow my own onions year round? If you have any info that you would like to share please do..
I need to learn how to grow potatoes & brocolli in my greenhouse also..again any info would be awesome!
Leaning at being more self suffient anyway I can..
Anything in general that grows well in the Greenhouse or doesn't grow well that can give me more knowledge would be greatly welcomed...Wife to Keith

What kind of greenhouse did you get? Do you have to assemble it yourself? My husband wants to get me one, but I have read that they can be flimsy. Please let us know more about yours when you get it.

OMG! I'm really jealous also, you will have to take pictures as you put it together! I would love to be able to grow something all winter. You must feel like you are in heaven right now! Congratulations!!, Now I must go look up that number at costco!
Pine trees, with their needles pointing up to heaven, represent everlasting light and life.

I for some reason can't copy & paste the site..I posted the info..It got good reveiws..I decided to buy a bigger Greenhouse then what I originally plan to buy which was a 6 by 8... I think going a little bigger was a better investment and well worth it's price when you can grow your own food for years to come..I also have 3 teenage boys that eat and eat and eat...I don't see them leaving the nest for quite some time so I justify the purchase in that sense that it will pay for itself over time..Oh and lets not forget a mini farmers market that will help pay for it also..Good luck..BTW I saved over $600.00 on this particular model..My local Homedepot who is the only place around my area that sells this same model wouldn't price match Costco's.com price..their loss my gain!!Wife to Keith

Thanks Russ....I see you grow sweet corn..can you tell me how much you grow..how much area do you use to plant..Do they takeup alot of room in your garden?? I know lots of questions..but I know that the price for a dozen ears will cost anywhere from $6.00 and up this year and since I love, love sweet corn I want to plant enough to substain us for the summer as well as our freezer..

I usually plants 4 rows about 20ft long.
Here is a website that says pretty much what I do. Remember, corn is a heavy feeder.
Sweet Corn Gardening Tips
To my amazement, the inlaws always seem to show up just about the time everthing needs to be picked. Especially the sweet corn. hmmmm :thinking:Russ

Thank you..I saw where a woman planted her corn in a good sized plastic tote that you would buy from walmart with great success..
Do you get alot corn that would feed you through the winter?
I'm thinking of planting the three sisters this year.. that way the corn will get the nutrients it needs to grow well..I can plant them in my 4 by 12 raised boxed beds..I watched the gardengirl on youtube that gave me the inspiration to so without digging into the ground..I'm really not sure how good the soil is here at our new home..the other place I lived for 11yrs had excellent soil and could grow just about anything in ground..Wife to Keith

Heck no. We ate corn on the cob for about 3 weeks not to mention all the corn we give away. The inlaws.. sister, brother, MIL, Aunts all stop by in the late summer.
Nowhere to be found in the spring to help plant and pull weeds. Leeches.
Corn is the one thing we have never canned or have frozen.Russ

LOL..I feel like I'm bragging and don't mean for anyone to take it that way..I thought I was gonna get sick to my stomach when I saw what the total cost was and the excitement at the same time..I don't regret it at all..I'm one that never asks for much unlike Dh who is the same way until he wants something I know it's gonna be something real expensive and most of the time I give in to him just because he never ask for anything..He was a little upset with when i told him the cost..but I had to remind hi of the fact I don't buy anything for ME!Wife to Keith
