    Default Update on chickens

I put the bit about the telephone call with the company who sold us the chickens on the other thread.

This is the update about the new chicken.
It was arranged that the new chicken would be brought yesterday morning (Friday May 7th) at around 7 am.
7 am came and went. At 10 am, still no chicken. I called and the company told me that they wouldn't be at my house till at least 11.30. I thought about getting into an argument but thought better of it.

At 2.30 pm the guy came with the chicken. Another white one.
I said to him, wasn't I suposed to get a grey one.
We have grey ones, he said. Yes, I know, that is what I was supposed to get. He looked at me with a blank stare.
I considered my options and decided just to take this white one and leave it since I really didn't want to deal with these people again. Of course I had to remind him that I was supposed to get a bag of feed for my 'inconvenience'. He quickly got it from the truck.

The other ladies were not too pleased to have an intruder in their lives but they seem to have accepted her now.

Even though we had bought a chicken coop that was suitable for 6 chickens we felt sorry for them that they didn't really have any place where they could scratch in the dirt etc. so we made a large area for them attached to the original coop where they could run freely (we were amazed at ourselves because we are definitely NOT the handy DIY types). The first thing that the silly girls did was have a dirt bath. They LOVED it.

Yeah, if there's no pics, how do we really know you're not just pulling our wing? *giggle, joking*

A friend of ours has a couple chickens for eggs. Looking forward to learning from both of you.

So glad that you have all of your girls now. Hope you never have to deal with that company again. Have a ball with them. They sound wonderful. Good chickie mojo to you. Can not wait to see pictures.

We took some photos yesterday but we didn't manage to get them on the computer because of a missing cable or something.
Dh will try and do it at the office today and then transfer them to my computer this evening.

Aww, I'm glad that the new chicken was accepted by the others in the end. I wouldn't deal with those people again either, not after the whole incident beforehand.

I can't wait to see pics.
