it snowed last night
we got a good 4 inches, and its heavy, feels like theres 6 inches of water in it. We were up every 2 hrs, out shaking the trees off, all of my fruit trees are blooming, the cherry and apple are just full of blooms. I'm afraid now its going to freeze the fruit on the trees, and we are suppose to get more tonight, and maybe this coming thursday. We ended up with a few broken branches, plus I lost the entire side of a lilac. sob... but the pear, plums and peaches look ok.
Thank goodness we waited to plant the garden, we would have lost the entire thing. It feels like winter here again, even had to turn the heat on.Pine trees, with their needles pointing up to heaven, represent everlasting light and life.

Sorry about your lilac bush and I hope your fruit trees are OK.
It's hard NOT to plant a garden when you get weeks of warm weather in the spring.Russ

I know how you feel, Pinetree! We got it last night too. Started out with lots of rain, a little hail even, and then woke up this morning and everything was white again!
Now, it is quickly melting off and warming up. My tulips survived it.
Sorry about your lilac, but glad everything else is OK.
Let's hope that was the LAST snow!!!!

we got some of it too, not snow, but rain and hail. I am so glad I didn't plant anything yet.

Oh gees pinetree that is awful. Sorry to hear that about your lilac.
I still say we are going to have a weird summer.......we are going to be pushing 80 by this weekend then drop back into the 50's shortly thereafter.
The plants don't know whether to grow or hibernate!
I bet our area gets lots of hail storms this summer too. I hate that......just ruins a garden real fast! They are already telling people to get the brush cleared out due to fire danger coming early.

Wow, I'd be bitter. It has been cold here lately, but still above freezing so all our precipitation is the watery kind.
I was in Saskatoon last weekend and closed my eyes when I saw the occasional leftover drift of snow on a shady roadside bank.
