My new tree peony bloom!
I put in this tree peony just last year and it has already kicked out a couple blooms.
I KNOW I should have cut them off so it would send more energy into getting a stronger root system but I couldn't stand it. The tag blew away and I didn't even know which one it was, (no journal!!) so I let them both open.
I LOVE IT! Don't know what color it will show on your monitor but it is a bright magenta color with HUGE blooms.
I love my peonies. It will take about three more years for it to get big like a tree peony does but I love them!
Time to start my 'garden album' for the year. I deleted last year's.

We saw some peony plants tonight and they're so fragrant! I was in awe of them and if it wasn't for my lack of space, I'd have planted some tonight.
I'm still debating getting some for the backyard.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

Oh that is beautiful! The layer and layer of soft bright color is just the best. I so want to smell that baby.

The kicker is that you have to get pretty close with your nose in it to catch the scent.......if you don't mind yellow pollen on your nose!!
A nice scent though....mildly sweet....not 'gaggy'.
Dig up some sod! You won't be disappointed! They are truly easy care and hardy!! They have found some that were 100 years old. Not even much trimming on them....unlike bush peonies.
The large bloom is 9 inches across. Smaller one is open now and about 8........measured them this AM.
