birds in the garden
My hubby just planted out seed in the garden last night and the birds are in the garden already. Is there anything I can do to keep the birds out so the seeds have a chance?

I tie pie tins to the fence and the wind blows and makes noise and seems to keep them out.

Rubber snakes set around the garden does wonders just move them every couple of days. I used this for my strawberry patch.

GOOD LUCK!!
When I plant grass I cover it pretty heavy with peatmoss....seems to help.....some. Do you have one of those cloths that are for the garden? They cover the area but still let in sun. How about an old sheer curtain??
If you find something that REALLY works......let us know!

I don't garden and have no solutions, but you know the old rhyme:
Sow four beans as you make your row --
One to rot and one to grow,
One for the pigeon, and one for the crow.
Good luck!Donna

You can put netting over the dirt if they're in seed form. It'll be really small and not big enough for them to eat at them. You can lay the netting over the dirt and just stake it in place around the edges to keep it from blowing away.

What kind of seed did you plant? Did you dig up a large area of dirt? I will bet that the birds are not interested in your seed, they are searching the disturbed earth for bugs.
