What did you plant/harvest today 2010? *New Thread*
The last thread was very, very long, so I thought I'd start a new one.
What are you planting/harvesting in your neck of the woods?
We harvested our first 2 dozen strawberries yesterday. Between the 4 of us, they were gone in a matter of minutes

Got all of my beans in this weekend, found sunflower seeds and made space to plant those, finished the 3 sisters garden now that the corn is tall enough, and got half of the herbs and edible flowers planted. Soooo close to being done!

I planted my strawberries, bluberries and raspberries today! I replanted swiss chard into bigger containers. I'm thinking of moving the whole lot of them onto the front porch to keep away from the ground and bugs. Will take some pics soon.

brought in some spinach. I am making asparagus soup tonight for dinner, and thought this could slip in unnoticed for a little oomph of layer in the flavors. And it would add a bright color to the soup as well.

I picked about 10 cherry tomatoes this morning. Thats whats great about living where its hot, I was able to plant everything at the beginning of March. I have a few Early Girl tomatoes just about ripe enough to pick in the next couple of days. My Cucumber and watermelon plants have taken off this past week with the tempature in the 90's. It is so exciting to see the vegies come in.

Yesterday was our first dry day is ages........
planted 3 tree peonies. Now in my first choice spot but it was either get them in.....or lose them.
Harvested over 4 bags of weeds......and these were bark mulch size bags.......not groc. bags. I will never catch up with the weeds this summer with all our rain!

On the bright side:
I had pre-cooked mesquite chicken breasts that needed to be used up.
DD, age 14,
picked buttercrunch lettuce and basil from the garden.
washed and cut the leaves into bite-size pieces
heated and diced the chicken breasts
served out salads for her and me
But, as if to compensate, the rabbits ate all my Swiss chard while we were on vacation.2012 Knitting in progress

I planted squash and peanuts today.
We have tons of strawberries, but it's been to cold for them to ripen. If we get some warm weather before they go mouldy, we'll have to pick them by the truckload.
Our beans broke ground yesterday. No sign of the carrots that I planted a couple of weeks ago. I might have to replant them. The fruit trees are looking good - lots of baby apples, plums and pears.

Ran out in between rain storms and 'harvested' 6 1/2 more bags of weeds. They were some huge weeds!! Some were bigger than the plants they were beside...........DARN RAIN!!
NOW I can say I have finally made a 'dent' in the weeding......and more rain is coming this week!
