Default I have a question about cucumbers

Someone here at work asked me if there was a reason why some cucimbers were bitter and others were not..If it was something in the soil or the weather? I do know that you can pick two different ones off the same vine and one can be bitter and the other not but why? Anyone know?

The larger cucumbers will be bitter as well.

    Yeah that!

I have had more trouble with the 'green' ones being bitter than others. Have never had a bitter lemon cuke.........and grew Armenian Cukes last year and they are great.......(might have one this year--am still 'babying' it) They are not only burpless, but you don't have to peel them, and I never had a bitter one with two plants. Love them!

I read somewhere - and this might be wrong - that Armenian cucumbers are not actually cucumbers at all, but rather a variety of melon. That could explain why they're never bitter.
