I hate Mother Nature sometimes.
So yeah, another large hail storm. This time, it wiped out my blueberry bushes. The gooseberry bushes took a massive thrashing, but I won't know how many berries I lost until the hail melts.
There's no amount of help for them. I couldn't even tarp them in time.
The hail was about pea to marble sized or larger. We got the tail end of a massive storm.
I'm so sad.

Aww, I'm sorry. I hate those things that you have no control over. Hope you can salvage bunches.

She can sure mess things up.........sorry to hear you got hit YET AGAIN!
Your hail storm made our wind storm, that we are having today, look not quite so bad........though it has broken off a huge branch on my tree peony!
The weather is sure messing things up this year!!!

It sure is!
The hail was anywheres between toonie sized here to golf ball sized in the Southwest part of the city. My plants just got absolutely shredded. It makes me angry but at the same time, I realize that that's how the weather is. I can't do anything to stop it.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

I've been grumbling because of frequent rain since about March, which has me still planting and weeding in July. But of course rain is a necessity for the garden ... I don't think anyone's ever grateful for hail. I'd be bitter.

I'm especially bitter because I spent quite a bit on the bushes and well, I'm not getting a harvest this year. It irritates me too because if we do move, I won't ever have a chance to enjoy those berries.

Well I could, depending on the terms when we sell the house. I'd also have to know the soil conditions at the new place. We're going for a completely flat yard with a south-facing front, which is a perfect spot for the bushes to be.
I dunno if I'd want to lug them all the way to Edmonton if and when we move.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

Maybe you can just take some cuttings?
(I don't know anything about berries)

Before you move - transplant them to your inlaws then take them back when you're ready and know the soil conditions?

I'm sorry. For us it is the Japanese beetles - they have devoured our green beans and my cherry tree.
