    Default The boss

It appears that one of the reds has asserted himself as the boss of the house.
He's the first to greet you as you go in the pen.

I KNEW Russ was a chicken!!

If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Beer butt chicken. If you have never tried it, put it on your list. We use a spray bottle with lemon soda to keep it moist. It is AWESOME.

    Nice strut on that bird.
Love beer butt chicken and we were supposed to have it for dinner earlier this week but the price on the chickens wasn't thrilling me. We have a special cast iron beer butt chicken holder (holds 2 birds) that has cut outs for the cans so they don't tip easily. Good investment if you make them often.

We got ours from Cabela's a fav store of ours.
My bad, it's not cast iron but black steel. They also have stainless double which wasn't available when we bought ours about 5 years ago. I'd go with the stainless, the black is holding up nicely but is often times a bear to clean.

Be afraid chickies, be very afraid, Russ is getting serious.

Okay, being from New Jersey, I completely thought this post was about either: 1. George Steinbrenner dying or 2. Something to do with Bruce Springsteen Had no idea why it was in the gardening thread. I gotta expand my horizons!

    That's a rooster??

Anyway, there's absolute truth to the idea of a pecking order within a flock of chickens. There will always be a #1 chicken, and one poor chook who gets to peck no one.
