    Default pressure canning help

I recently had a birthday (9/5) and was given walmart gift cards to help with the purchase of a 23 quart pressure canner...
I have a few questions before I order it...
    1) Is 23 quarts big enough?
    2) how many jars at a time will it hold?
    3) where can I find recipes for it?

I know I'll be canning homemade soups and baked beans... not sure what else yet.

Thanks for all your expertise in this area..
    Any tips,suggestions are welcome!

Usually they will hold about 7 quart jars at a time, but check the packaging. They are all made differently and some hold more or less jars than others. Also, some have racks and will hold 7 quarts or 14 pints or 21 or more half pints.

I think that size would be fine for 3 people. Although, I usually can in larger batches and use 2 canners at one time. It makes canning 300 quarts of beans remarkably quicker. Do you plan to garden and then can your fruits and vegetables?

The canner will come with a recipe book that will be worth its weight in gold. I also find recipes with Google, like proper way to can beans.

Good luck with your canning and make sure to read the instructions and pay attention to them.

No help with the pressure canning question.........

But there is a whole wealth of info. on the net.........almost all states have Extension Sites with help.........here is one site for Presto that could help you with some of your questions.
