Tooo cute!! They can be such funny critters when something "new" is on their 'territory'!

That's such a beautiful greenhouse. Well worth the effort.

I have been gathering 'portable' greenhouse info for my small veg planters, mainly is to keep snails away.

I love the new greenhouse. It's like one I have been wanting for years. Maybe I can get husband to build one when the money comes available.

Today, I received a Procom 10,000 BTU natural gas vent less heater and it is absolutely marvelous. It is just about the right capacity for the greenhouse. It is only needed at night to keep the temperature well above freezing. If the Sun shines during the day it is turned off.

Looks like the right tool for the job, reasonable price too.

The outside temperature this morning is minus 3 C, and inside the greenhouse the temperature is 12 degrees C. The Sun is shining, so the temperature will rise considerably later in the day.

I have a thermometer in one of the pots and the earth temperature is 15C.

Looks like you, your heater & Neena have everything under control. What a nice place that will be especially when the snow flies. All that life growing and earth/dirt smell when it's cold outside is a feast for the senses.

2 January 2011 Pak Choy in Greenhouse 2 January 2011 Pak Choy in Greenhouse
To test conditions in the new greenhouse some Pak Choy was planted using my normal method of plastic covered containers. There were originally three seeds per pot, and they have been planted individually in containers. The seeds were planted on 10 November 2010, and appear to be thriving. The outdoor temperature has been from 5C to about minus 8C. The greenhouse has always been above freezing usually at the lowest about 5 C during the night. The 10,000 BTU Natural Gas heater seems to be adequate. The daytime temperature in the greenhouse rises considerably, particularly if the Sun is shining.

Healthy indeed. That vibrant green color is just the best.
Feast for the senses for sure!
